About EscapeSG
✦ Our Story

Built by One Developer Who Kept Running Out of Weekend

EscapeSG started as a personal habit, not a business plan. I'm a software developer during the week — sprints, standups, screens — and somewhere along the way, "let's just go somewhere" became my reset button. Not a big trip. Not a two-week itinerary. Just a different city every other weekend: Friday night flight out, Monday morning flight home, zero leave days touched.

After a couple of years of doing this, I had a spreadsheet. Then the spreadsheet grew tabs. Then friends started asking to see the spreadsheet. EscapeSG is that spreadsheet, rebuilt properly — every destination, budget, and itinerary here is something I've actually done myself, not pulled from a press kit or a sponsored stay.

I still write code Monday to Friday. Most other weekends, I'm somewhere with a boarding pass in one hand and a loose plan I'm about to abandon in the other. This site is what I wish existed when I first started doing this — a fast, honest answer to "where can I actually go this weekend without touching my leave balance?"

Singapore makes this possible in a way most cities don't: 80 destinations within six hours, a passport that opens almost every border, and an airport built for exactly this kind of trip. EscapeSG exists to make sure you use all of it.

No Sponsored Content
I've never accepted a free hotel stay or a sponsored flight in exchange for coverage. Every recommendation is paid for with my own money. If something's bad, I say so.
🎯
Singapore-First Perspective
Written for Singaporeans, not for generic "Southeast Asian travellers." Prices in SGD, flights from Changi, immigration realities specific to the Singapore passport, and budgets that actually reflect what things cost from here.
⏱️
Time-Honest Planning
Every itinerary is stress-tested for the 48-hour window. No pretending you can do 12 things in a day. Just the three things worth doing, and exactly how long each one takes.
💬
Community-Powered Updates
Prices change. Restaurants close. New gems open. Readers send me updates constantly, and I push changes within the week. The site you're reading is never more than seven days out of date.
The Founder
💻
Hi, I'm Erika
Software Developer & Weekend Wanderer
I write code Monday to Friday, and I try to be somewhere else most other weekends. EscapeSG started as my own spreadsheet of Friday-night-flight, Monday-morning-landing trips, and grew into this site because friends kept asking for the spreadsheet. Every destination, budget, and itinerary here is somewhere I've actually been — no press trips, no sponsored stays.
